Anywhere you go, at any time you will see or hear about bullying. On issue that the United States is facing is the fact the students stay home from school to prevent bullying. “Every day thousands of teens wake up afraid to go to school. Bullying is a problem that affects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not just the kids on its receiving end. Yet because parents, teachers, and other adults don't always see it, they may not understand how extreme bullying can get.”(How Bullying Affects America - B.E.N.) Now these students are going to school because they want their education but they are not going. They are full of fear and they are worried they are going to get hurt or they are going to get mad fun of. Just like in an article it is stated; “Students who are bullied can develop physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach pains or sleeping problems. They may be afraid to go to school, go to the lavatory, or ride the school bus. They may lose interest in school, have trouble concentrating, or do poorly academically”(Michigan Association of School Administrators).
Some of the things the United States is trying to do is they are making bill that are going to help prevent bullying. Now they have been making bills since the year of 1999. Still in these years they are making and singing bills. “Between 1999 and 2010, the legislatures in 46 states enacted more than 120 bills either creating or amending education or criminal statutes to address bullying and related behaviors in their schools. During 2010, alone, 21 new bills were passed and state governors signed eight more into law through April 30, 2011”(Childhood Bullying). Now the reason for these bills are because kids have gone to school and started shooting and then they will committee suicide or they would have just committee suicide to end all brutality. Now you may think all the states will sign the bills but there are still who hasn’t sign them. “Currently, only four states (Hawaii, Michigan, Montana, and South Dakota) are without specific bullying laws” (Childhood Bullying). Over 1600,00 students tend to stay home just to avoid a bully. Now 19,000 students attempt to commit suicide.
